The Reader - 71
The Reader magazine sprang to life in 1997 to champion a deeper connection between life and literature. The Reader’s founder, Jane Davis MBE, left school at 16 with two GCSEs and eventually returned to education as a young, single mother achieving a first-class degree, and then a PhD. Jane spent 15 years working as an English teacher and it was in her Continuing Education classes that she started to develop the model we now call Shared Reading.
This beautiful new issue of The Reader outlines the reading revolution as we now know it. Featuring quotes from James Baldwin, poetry, and reader recommendations, this is a print to take comfort in.
